The biblical description of creation clearly states that God created every natural thing that exists, rather in space or on the earth, in six days, and then He rested on the seveth day. In those six days of creation, “the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing” (Gen. 2:1-2). Yet, the account of the Lord’s creation in six days has become a stumbling block for many.

How could God possibly create the entire univere in only six days? It seems impossible. But, what seems impossible to the finite understanding of man, is possible for the Almighty God.

God completely created every natural thing in space and on earth within six days. At His word, everything that exists  came into being. That includes what is seen or unseen, what is known and what is still unknown. Galaxies that are millions of light years from earth were created within days of the earth itself. The untold millions of species of plant and animal life expanding the circumference of earth were created instantaneously at God’s command.

Some contend that science contradicts the Bible. It doesn’t. Actually, there isn’t any way that science can disprove creation (primarily because the biblical account is true, but from an argumentative position, the account of creation stands on an incontestable platform).

Still, challenges to creation are even seeping into beliefs of many Christians, because people are being force-fed teachings about the evolution of life taking place over millions of years. We are even challenged with deceptive stories of how mankind gradually developed intelligence.

Such teachings are dangerous and demonic in origin.

First, if the account of God’s creation as recorded in the Bible isn’t true – why should you accept anything else written in the Bible? Further, it also challenges Jesus’ promise of the future resurrection of the dead.

How so? If you can’t accept that the earth was created in six days, why should you believe that when Christ returns, all in Christ will be changed in the “twinkling” of an eye?

As believers, we are looking forward to Christ’s return and our being raised up to meet Him in the air. The Bible promises, “We will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortally” (1 Cor. 15:52-53).

How long will this take? Will this something that takes an “evolution,” or will it be instantaneous?

Our transformation will be quicker than what it took you to read a single word out of this sentence.

All those in Christ, whether alive or physically dead when He returns, will given a new body and made alive in Christ in a millisecond. Is this any harder to believe than the Bible’s teaching that life was created in a moment at God’s word? If so, it poses a spiritual problem for your belief in the resurrection.

Further, God says, at the end of days, He “will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind” (Isa. 65:17). The apostle John received a vision of this and said, “I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and first earth had passed away” (Rev. 21:1).

God tells us that all of creation as we know it will pass away and He will create new heavens and a new earth. But, if you can’t believe that God created the heavens and earth in six days, why would you hold to God’s promise that this present universe and world will immediately pass away and be replaced with new heavens and a new earth?

As you consider this, you can begin to see why the teachings of an evolution taking millions of years is demonic. It’s antichrist. At its core, teaching that the earth came into existence over millions of years challenges the omnipotence of God himself; and it corrodes our assurance about what God said will happen at Jesus’ return.

For those who question the biblical account of a six day creation, consider that the teachings of evolution can be disproven. However, creation is founded on the principle that God created life with the appearance of age. Under that principle, it becomes impossible to disprove creation.

For example, at Adam’s creation, did he appear as an infant or as a mature man? He looked like a decades-old adult. He had and appearance of age. Likewise, so did Eve.

On the third day of creation, the trees were created at a stage of bearing seed and fruit. Most trees don’t bear fruit for years, and none on the day a tree sprouts out of the ground. But these trees were bearing fruit on the day of their creation. Could anyone have looked at one of those trees and determined it to be less than a day old? No. God created these trees will the appearance of age.

What about the birds in the sky? The birds were created on the fifth day and were flying in the air on the day they were created. These weren’t hatchlings fresh out of an egg, but came into existence as mature birds. They were capable of flying on their first day of existence.

On the sixth day, God created the beasts of the field. But, these animals were created at a stage of life in which they were capable of supporting themselves. These animals certainly didn’t appear as newborns. They were created with a degree of maturity.

Therefore, since the biblical account tells us that God created everything, both life and elements, with the appearance of age, the only possible way to discard the account of a six-day creation would be by the testimony of someone who was there during the creation of heaven and earth – such as Jesus Christ. Jesus “was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made that has been made” (John 1:2-3).

So, what did Jesus say about creation? He never contradicted the biblical account of creation. On the contrary, he spoke of the creation account as a true record. For example, Jesus confirmed a passage from Genesis 1:27 when He said, “’Haven’t you read . . . that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’” (Matt. 19:4).

What about the position that we can now see light through modern telescopes from galaxies that are millions of light years from earth. The argument holds that, because it would take millions of years for this light to reach earth, the universe must therefore be at least millions of years old. Does this contradict the case for our earth only being thousands of years old?

No, because the argument doesn’t take God into account.

God is the creator of all physical laws. However, He holds supremacy over every universal law that He created. There was no natural law for the speed of light until God created that physical law and set it in place. Actually, there was no light before God created light.

So, any argument that is based on the finite laws of nature becomes inconsequential when viewed from God’s omnipotence, because God usurps all physical laws. We have proof of this in many of Jesus’ miracles.

To hold firm in your faith, you can’t compromise what the Bible teaches. It’s important to accept the inerrancy of the Bible and its truth – from Genesis to Revelation. But you’re not called to a blind trust. The Bible has proven itself, and stood on its own merit for thousands of years. And, we have God’s assurance that it always will.

Jesus said this about creation – and about His Word: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31).
